Got Questions You Would Like Answered?
Grab your smartphone and record a video of you asking your gardening question. It just may be featured on an upcoming episode of Gardening with Steil on Iowa PBS.
Video Content: Start the video with a short introduction including your name and hometown. Keep the question as consice as possible and feel free to show us what you have questions with, if necessary.
Length: Total running time should be 30 to 60 seconds (or less).
File Type: .mov file or .mp4 file
How to Submit Your Video: It is likely your video file will be too large to attach and send by email. The best way to submit your question is to upload your video to a file-sharing site such as Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, OneDrive, or others. Add your video clip to a folder, choose to “share” the folder, and copy the shared link. Email that link to this email address.
Tips for Recording a Good Video
- Make sure your phone camera is set to 1080p at 30fps. You can find this in your camera settings.
- Wait a couple of seconds off the top of a clip to begin talking, and allow a :02-:03 seconds of silence before turning off the camera. This helps us insert the clip into the show seamlessly.
- Make sure to orient the phone the long way (landscape) like the shape of a TV screen. This will fill the frame nicely rather than an upright, portrait-style video.
- Do not stand too far away from the camera as the microphone won’t pick up your voice very well.
- Make the shot as steady as possible! If you have a tripod, use it. A friend can also help by holding it as steady as possible. If you are moving the camera (panning), move very slowly.
- Do not add any music or graphics to the clips.
