Nitrogen Deficiency
When plants are deficient in nitrogen, growth is typically slow and weak, and overall plant size may be reduced. Older, lower leaves usually turn pale green to yellow first because nitrogen is a mobile nutrient that moves to newer growth when supplies are limited. As time progresses, more of the plant will become yellow or chlorotic. Stems may be thin, and severe or prolonged deficiency can lead to leaf drop and reduced yields or poor plant vigor.
