Calcium Deficiency
When plants are deficient in calcium, symptoms appear first on new growth, including distorted or misshapen young leaves, leaf tip or margin necrosis, and death of growing points, with roots often short and poorly developed. In crops such as tomatoes and peppers, calcium deficiency is associated with disorders like blossom end rot rather than uniform leaf yellowing. Calcium deficiency can be confused with boron deficiency, which also affects growing points, or with salt injury and magnesium toxicity, which may cause similar leaf edge damage. Because calcium uptake is closely linked to water movement, review irrigation practices and ensure ample, consistent watering before treatment.
