What are the planting site requirements for muskmelon and watermelon?

Answer:

Melons are relatively easy to grow.  Their basic requirements are full sun and a fertile, well-drained soil.  The planting site should receive at least 6 hours of direct sun each day.  Heavy, poorly drained soils can often be improved by incorporating organic matter, such as compost or well-rotted manure, into the soil.
