2017 is the 40th anniversary of Demonstration Gardens at ISU Research and Demonstration Farms. Gardens have been planted at 5 to 10 locations per year every year since 1977.
Beginning in 2016 the Demonstration Gardens planted "donation gardens" that grew produce specifically to be donated to local food pantries. This is the second year ISU Extension and Outreach’s Master Gardener program has collected produce grown in the demonstration gardens. Over 10,000 pounds of fresh produce from Demonstration Gardens was donated to food pantries last summer.
There will be six Demonstration Garden Field Days this summer, between July 18 and August 5. Learn more about the Demonstration Gardens Field Days in the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Yard and Garden news release from June 29, 2017.
